Earth Hour is March 23

This is a great opportunity to remember how much we rely on a steady stream of electricity, and impact it has on the world. Unlike an unplanned power failure, this gives you a chance to run around the house and turn stuff off, especially computers and the like, and sit in the dark together with your friends and/or family. It is quite fun and eye-opening, literally. I have also simply hit the main breaker for the house at 8:30 and left it off until midnight. Hands Up 4 New Zealand

Hands Up 4 New Zealand • Earthquake fundraiser | Event was Thursday April 7th, 2011 in Winnipeg

It is hard to believe it was more than two years ago that Christchurch New Zealand experienced a devastating earthquake.

February 22, 2011 will be remembered by the world, especially by those who experienced the event.

The Down Under Club of Winnipeg pulled together a benefit event on April 7th, 2011, headed up by Lynley Davidson.

The web site was created and will live on at http://handsup4nz.wordpress.com after the expiry of the dedicated original web address.

New Aussie radio host on 99.1

991 Fresh FMG’day and welcome to Matt Sutton, the new morning radio show host at 99.1 Fresh FM. Hot off the plane from Brisbane, Australia, Matt is a “fan of good times and making people eat Vegemite sandwiches”.

Sutton is no stranger to Canada, having also worked in London, Ontario, and is apparently addicted to Tim Hortons, loves hockey and doesn’t complain about the cold. You’ll find a few like minds here, Matt!

Tune in to 99.1 FM at 5:30 am weekday mornings to hear Matt in action, and hopefully we’ll get a chance to meet him at an upcoming DUCW event. Beauty, mate!

The images will be cropped to fit the wide, panorama style you see at the top of the pages, so preference will be given to ones that still look good when cropped this way.
