Passport Renewals and Alumni Event 2017

April 2017 will welcome representatives of the Australian High Commission to Winnipeg for passport interviews and an alumni networking event.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Australians in Manitoba to renew your passport and address any notarial issues in Winnipeg without incurring the cost of travelling to Ottawa, Toronto or Vancouver.

You do need to book an appointment online for a passport interview on Friday April 28, and to RSVP for the alumni event as soon as possible. All details available by clicking on the poster.

For more information, visit calling all australians winnipeg 2017 update or email Jenny (Media and Communications, DUCW) or phone 204-228-9959.

Annual General Meeting

The outgoing executive for 2016. Thank you all for your work in the past 12 months.

The outgoing executive for 2016. Thank you all for your work in the past 12 months.

Join us on Friday November 25 from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm at the Scandinavian Cultural Centre, 764 Erin Street in Winnipeg.

We will be holding our Club elections and updating everyone on events and activities in 2016 and 2017.

Consider taking a turn on the executive – all positions are up for grabs – or just turn up and lend your support to those who keep the cogs turning. This is a great forum for raising suggestions for Club events or to catch up with your mates.

The bar will be open and snacks will be supplied.

NOTE: You need to be a member in good standing to be on the executive, so if you haven’t paid your dues, bring your money with you. Only $20 for an individual, and $30 for a couple / family.

We look forward to seeing all of you there.

Yarn November 2016

yarn-2016-novThe November issue of The Southern Yarn is ready for you to read online. It’s also going in the post this weekend, so those fabulous yellow versions will be on the way to some still relying on Canada Post for their Yarns.

The weather in Manitoba is unseasonably warm this month, with hardly a sign of winter in the air. Time to spend as much time outside as you can, before donning the cold weather gear is required for outdoor excursions.

Australian High Commission is coming to town

australian-passport-largeRepresentatives of the AHC are definitely coming to Winnipeg in late April 2017. Final dates and details to be decided, but this is the perfect opportunity for anyone wanting to renew their passport, apply for a new passport, or address any notarial issues or questions.

Once dates are finalised, you will be able to make a booking through the AHC’s website.

As part of the AHC’s consular and passport outreach, if there is sufficient interest, they will also host an Alumni networking reception for Australian alumni in the Winnipeg area. Alumni are graduates of an Australian university, vocational or training institution and living in the Winnipeg area. Exchange teachers who have taught at Australian schools or Australian teachers who are currently on exchange, teaching in the Winnipeg area, are also welcome to be part of this event.

If you are an alumni, please contact us at info@downunderclub.mb.ca so we can add your name to the contact list and forward you additional information.

Stay tuned for more details.
