Melbourne coffee roastery and espresso bar Black Velvet Coffee Roasters have launched a new seasonal blend called Night Swimming, which it said was designed to have “a traditional Melbourne flavour”.
Black Velvet Coffee, which is owned and operated by Darren and Jackie Silverman, said Night Swimming is a medium level roast, suiting both black and milk based coffees and all brewing techniques, in particular espresso and on the stovetop. The Company said the roast offered “clean hazelnut aromas, a hint of spice, subtle acidity and a long clean finish”.
Black Velvet Coffee Roasters owner and head roaster Darren Silverman created Night Swimming with a view to replicating the “sweet finish and notes of dark chocolate” that the Company said were “typical of a traditional Melbourne blend”.
“We want to give all coffee drinkers the delicious coffee experience synonymous to Melbourne cafes,” Mr Silverman said.
“We’re bringing back an original Melbourne espresso taste, with deeper flavours of toffee and blueberry,” Mr Silverman said. “We’ve noticed some roasters moving away from a traditional flavour to roasts which display bright, floral notes, yet our wholesale customers are looking for versatile blends that work as both an espresso and in a milk based coffee,” he said.
“We are always working on new blends,” Mr Silverman said. “People in Australia continue to seek out different coffee varieties and we are seeing an increase in popularity and demand for our artisan roasts,” he said.
Black Velvet Coffee Roasters has also announced a new rewards club for wholesale customers, The Black Velvet Family. Business support and coaching, supplier discounts, customer software and achievement awards are some of the benefits of rewards club membership.
Black Velvet Coffee’s Night Swimming is available online from the Company’s website.
