G’day and kia ora everyone!
Coming up in a little more than two weeks is a dinner event that might be of interest to DUCW members.
Friendship Force (FF) in Winnipeg is holding a dinner on Wednesday April 3 at the Masonic Temple at Confusion Corner. This is a joint event between FF and DUCW with the focus on New Zealand, and the evening includes an appearance by Terry Roberts and Lynley Davidson.
Doors open at 6:00 pm and dinner starts at 6:30 pm. There will be as much of a New Zealand menu as the chef can arrange, and it is only $20 (which includes taxes and tip). There will also be a cash bar, also reasonably priced.
After dinner, Terry and Lynley will talk to the group about Christchurch and the effects of the quake in particular, and New Zealand’s culture and lifestyle in general. Hopefully, there will be lots of questions, and for sure, it will be a lively group.
The evening will wrap up around 9:00 pm, so not a late night.
The inspiration for the dinner was a group of people from Christchurch coming to Winnipeg later this year, but sadly, despite their best efforts, the group has had to cancel because of financial constraints due to the quake. However, FF is still keen for the dinner to go forward because they will be going to NZ next year for the International Conference, and they would like to understand the challenges the people faced after the quake and get to know a bit more about NZ.
So, if you would like to be part of the fun of the evening, and take the opportunity to talk up NZ, please send me an email and let me know. RSVP by Friday March 29. J
